Solutions Include China ITS Stack and Safety Applications for Enhanced Road Safety and Transportation Efficiency
SHENZHEN, Guangdong, CHN. and SANTA CLARA, California, U.S.A., Sep. 10th, 2018, Shenzhen Genvict Technologies Co., Ltd, a leading Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Internet of Vehicles (IoV) solution provider with industry leadership in Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), and system integrator of China, today announced that it will deliver comprehensive C-V2X (also referred to as LTE-V2X) solutions enabling Genvict to offer commercial roadside unit (RSU) and onboard unit (OBU) products. Based on the Qualcomm? 9150 C-V2X chipset solution from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, Genvict’s new C-V2X solution includes the China ITS stack and safety applications for RSUs and OBUs to aid in delivering C-V2X communication capabilities, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P), in support of road safety and transportation efficiency.
C-V2X technologies are designed to aid cities in becoming smarter and to support increasingly intelligent transport systems to become safer and more efficient. C-V2X is a communication technology based on the global 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specifications, whose PC5-based direct communication mode operating in the 5.9 GHz ITS spectrum allows exchange of V2V and V2I messages for collision avoidance without any dependency on a cellular operator network. C-V2X has an ongoing evolution designed to offer forward compatibility in implementation with 5G New Radio C-V2X (5G NR C-V2X).
Genvict is the leading unit of the Industrial Research and Development (R&D) center of Key Technologies and Equipment for Intelligent Vehicle-Infrastructure Cooperative Systems of the Ministry of Transportation (MOT) of China, a nationally recognized platform for V2X technology development and promotion.
Genvict is currently participating in various pilot programs of Intelligent Connected Vehicles (ICVs) and Cooperative Vehicle-Infrastructure Systems (CVIS) in China, providing cutting-edge RSU and OBU products with sophisticated software stack and application platform. On the road side, it aims to adopt the C- V2X technology to build an intelligent road that is capable to sense, think, and talk：
A road that senses: building a sensing network surrounding roads to monitor traffic flow and events and collect real-time traffic data.
A road that thinks: extracting, analyzing the collected data, and making prompt decisions.
A road that talks: assuring quick and reliable interactions between the road and traffic participants, so as to improve road safety and travel efficiency.
Genvict is working closely with automobile manufacturers, mobile network operators, road operators and local Chinese governments to accelerate the C-V2X technology deployment and commercialization. Its existing V2X products WB-R30B V2X Road-side Unit (RSUs), WB-L20B V2X Onboard Unit (OBUs), and WB-LM20B V2X Communication Units are widely used in various test zones or pilot programs of China. Genvict is now working closely with Qualcomm Technologies to deliver its next generation V2X products featuring Qualcomm Technologies’ 9150 C-V2X chipset. The new product is expected to be deployed in some of the smart highway pilot projects or ICV test zones starting in 2019.
“We are happy to work with Qualcomm Technologies to provide comprehensive C-V2X solutions for the ITS industry. Genvict is a leading ITS product and solution provider of China, whose market share of RSUs and OBUs of ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) systems ranks top in China. Genvict’s ITS expertise along with Qualcomm Technologies’ cutting-edge 9150 C-V2X chipset solution will provide customers with flexible and capable roadside and on-board products”, said Ning He, CTO and Chief Scientist, Genvict.
“As a leading ITS and IoV solution provider, Genvict has extensive experience in designing and deploying ITS products in China. Given their success in this segment, we are honored to have our 9150 C-V2X chipset solution featured in Genvict’s new RSU and OBU products,” said Nakul Duggal, vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “C-V2X is the global solution for V2X communication and has the potential to meet existing and evolving China ITS requirements for connected and autonomous vehicles. We look forward to working with Genvict to offer solutions for safer roadways and traffic efficiency.”
